How to teach your dog to walk on a leash

1. Choose the right leash and collar/harness

Avoid using a choke collar or prong collar, as these can cause pain and discomfort for your dog.

2. Get your dog used to the leash and collar/harness

Allow your dog to sniff and investigate the leash while it’s lying on the ground.

3. Teach your dog to follow the leash

Once your dog is comfortable with the leash, you can start teaching them to follow you on a leash.

4. Teach your dog to stop pulling the leash

If your dog starts pulling on the leash, stop walking and wait for your dog to calm down.

5. Reward your dog for wanted/good behavior

Reward your dog with treats and praise when they walk calmly on a leash.

And always remember - CONSISTENCY IS KEY.
